Over the next 3 months, WIN Network will be transitioning its remaining Mpeg2-delivered channels to Mpeg 4. But don’t fret, Southern Home Entertainment is here to help you through this process and ensure a smooth transition.
We understand that upgrading to newer technology can be overwhelming, but this upgrade will improve picture quality and provide more flexibility in how we deliver Free to Air programming to regional Australia. As a service provider, Southern Home Entertainment has many services to offer, including TV antenna installation and repair, home theatre installation, and surround sound system installation, to name a few.
If you have a television that is older than 10 years, you may have noticed that Nine HD, Life, TVSN, and Gold have not been available to you. Unfortunately, this means that at some stage over the coming months, GEM and GO will also disappear. But fear not! To get access to all WIN channels, you can purchase a television that is less than 10 years old, or a set-top box from your local electrical appliance store for much less than a new TV.
We note that there are a couple of models out there that are 8-10 years old that also cannot receive the new format, but we believe they are rare. If you’re unsure about your TV’s compatibility with the new format, Southern Home Entertainment can assist with checking compatibility and recommend the best course of action.
Currently, GEM (Ch81) and GO! (Ch82) are in the old format (MPEG2) and will move to the new format in May and June, respectively. GEM will upgrade to HD in late July 2023. In Eastern South Australia and Griffith, all the Seven Network channels and Network Ten Channels will also be transitioning to the MPEG4 formats very soon.
